New evidence on housing inequality amongst young families

R Coulter presented new evidence on changing patterns of private renting amongst young families in England and Wales at the Housing, Wealth and Welfare conference held at the University of Amsterdam (25/05/16).

This research shows that between 2001 and 2011, young families became much more heavily dependent on the private rental sector as their homeownership rate plummeted. However, this trend was particularly pronounced amongst those young families with a less economically advantaged occupational class position.

The slides from the presentation are available here and this research will shortly be summarised as a project briefing paper.
